Who we are and what we do

The Octopus Publishing Group is an award-winning non-fiction publisher with 17 specialist imprints creating an array of bestselling and award-winning books in every commercial category, from food & drink to wellness and memoir.

What you’ll be doing

You will support several commissioners focusing mainly on cookery, lifestyle and wellness across the Mitchell Beazley, Aster, Gaia and Godsfield imprints. Your responsibilities will include general office administration, running our internal systems, processing contracts, dealing with author queries, compiling market research, writing sales copy and checking proofs. While the role sits within our commissioning team, you will work across the business with colleagues from editorial, design, production, sales, marketing, PR and beyond.

Who we’re looking for

An eager, energetic and ambitious non-fiction book enthusiast with a minimum of 6 months’ office experience. Some publishing experience would be an advantage, ditto familiarity with Biblio. To be successful you will be:

  • Motivated, enthusiastic and with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Highly organised with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Able to multitask and organise effectively
  • Confident with excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • A competent administrator with knowledge of Microsoft Word, InDesign and Excel
