Sara Stridsberg, born in 1972, is a writer and playwright. Her first novel Happy Sally was published in 2004, and her break-through came two years later with the publication of The Faculty of Dreams, her second novel, which was published in English translation in 2019. This was followed by Darling River, in 2010, and The Gravity of Love in 2014. Her most recent novel, The Antarctica of Love, was published in Sweden in 2018, and will be published by MacLehose Press in 2020. She has been shortlisted for the prestigious August Prize four times, including in 2012 for her collection of plays, Medealand and other plays. In 2016, she became the youngest member of the Swedish Academy, and only the tenth woman ever to be elected. She left the Academy in 2018, in solidarity with Sara Danius. Sara Stridsberg lives in Stockholm.
